Agenda Item 11.d

Year Round Yard Assistance

Public summary

One thing I observed while door knocking during the election was that there are people throughout the village who could use a little help here and there taking care of their yards. Inspired by the snow angels program in Calgary, I will be proposing that over the summer, administration begin working on a program where seniors, people with disabilities, or others can apply to be registered in a program that signals to their neighbours they could use a helping hand to cut the grass, trim some trees, or shovel some snow. Many of us already do this for our neighbours, but from speaking to people in town there are others who would love to help out, except they don't know where to start.

Why it matters

Initiatives like this can lead to an increased sense of community and helps to keep the village beautiful.

What I'm watching

  • What costs might be?
  • How much time will this take from administration?
